Energy-saving tips

Renovation

Make sure you use good insulating materials.

New builds and insulation

It is important to completely insulate buildings. This also means cellar floors and walls in heated cellars, and the cellar ceiling if the cellar is unheated.

Ventilation

Avoid leaving lights on unnecessarily. In summer, this just causes more unwanted heat.

Lighting

Energy-saving bulbs generally require only a fifth of the energy used by conventional bulbs. They also last up to 15 times longer.

Household appliances

Watch out when buying new appliances. Don't be afraid to compare different appliances thoroughly before making a new purchase.

Hot water

A full bathtub uses on average three times as much energy (and water) as a shower.

Heating

Every degree Celsius lower means a saving of around 5 - 6%.

Electrical devices

You can borrow a free-of-charge power consumption test device from the Wien Energie Haus advisory centre.
